I think that is a very good oportunity to have English at university, because I didn't have it since school so I lost the practice. Now, in English IV im trying to use it again to get better in fleuncy, pronunciation and grammar.
When I do the blogs, I try to express myself like I'm talking on my first language, because Spanish and English have differents structures so is hard to translate literally. Therefore, I use translator as little as posible and I try not to depend on it. The blogs are a good experience to think about me and the things I like, expressing myself to others. There are good to practice my grammar and vocabulary.
I think there are many aspects that I want to improve of my English. Principally, I want to get better at pronunciation and vocabulary, because I think this two aspects are essential for the communication with other people. This aspects are very important for me because I want to travel and English is a very good tool to communicate because of their universality around the world. Despite that, writing and reading are very important for me too, because they are useful for academic texts and papers, that are very used at my carreer.
Outside class I don't really use English so much but I'm trying to use it more: listening songs, reading on internet and speaking with foreigners when I can. I usually read texts and papers in English, and sometimes I read books of my interest in this language. Ocasionally, I talk with people from other countries in English by internet.

This year has been full of emotions and great things have happened. There are many good things, for example my nephew was born in April 11th and now he is seven months old. Another good thing is that my mom got a new job and she is doing very well. Also, my brother it's finishing the school and he is going to take the PSU test.
Another situations didn't go well. My grandparents died at the beginning of the year and that was very sad. I broke up with my girlfriend recently, although that wasn't really sad because we both wanted to. Also, I got my meniscus injured playing soccer, so I will have a surgery soon.
I have made some academic achievements during this year. I have had very good results in my subjects in both semesters until now. Also, I studied a lot by my own, learning more about topics of my full interest.
There are a lot of things that I didn't do yet. For example, I want to travel when the university period ends. There are many places that I want to know inside Chile, so this will be a good chance to do it. This year I still have to do the final tests of all subjects so I must be concentrated.
In 2014 I learned that life doesn't stop and after grieving, you have to continue happy as always and making happy the other people near you. This will be a memorable year and I hope it ends well.

My favorite book is "The Teachings of Don Juan: A Yaqui Way of Knowledge" of Carlos Castaneda. This book is part of a four book collection that also includes "A Separate Reality", "Journey to Ixtlan" and "Tales Of Power". These books were written in 1968, 1971, 1973 and 1975 respectively.

The story of the book is based on a real experience of Carlos Castaneda and he wrote it in a autobiographical narration. He was studying anthropology in the University of California (UCLA) and this book were his grade thesis. He was doing an etnography in the state of Sonora in Mexico. There he met an indian wizard of the Yaqui tradition. The name of the wizard was Juan Matus but Castaneda tell him Don Juan. The story is about the teachings of Don Juan to Carlos Castaneda about being a Yaqui wizard. Don Juan train Carlos in the use of different entheogenics. This will help Castaneda to change his perception and consciousness, knowing how the Yaqui's see the life. Don Juan try to teach this knowledge to Carlos because he wants to maintain this tradition over the time.

I really like this book because it taught me differents ways of conceive the existence. Also, know another cultures and how they use the nature for his benefit. Finally, I like it because the story is funny and curious, maintaining me intrigued, so I can't stop reading.

My dream work

In first place, I want to have a kind of job that I don't have to work very much. I think the dream job of everyone works like that, few days of working and many days of free time. I imagine a job where I can earn enough money for living and have enough free time for travelling. That job will be tour guide or private psychologist.

If my job consist in tour guide, it will be outdoors. I will need to know another languages, so I can guide foreigners through Chile. I will work only when I want or when I have tours. Instead of working in a office, I will have a jeep so I can do tours in it. The main reason of working in this, is that I will have interchange with people of other cultures and I will have time for travelling around the world.

If my job consist in private psychologist, I will have a private office so it will be indoors. The adventage of having a private office is that I will work only the days I want. I expect that this job give me enough money and free time for travelling so I can travel around the world. If I be a private psychologist I will need to study a minor. The speciality that I like to learn is humanist and transpersonal therapy. I will attend my patients based on this approach because I think it understand mental disseases in a holistic way.

I hope that this job, in addition to give me money and free time, make me happy enjoying what I'm doing.

What the subject was,
Who taught it,
Why you enjoyed it,
What things you learnt in this subject.

Mention anything else you think is important.

Some subjects that I really enjoyed at school were Philosophy and Psychology. The same teacher taught both of those subjects and they were practically the same, but in 11th grade the contents were just about psychology and then, in senior year, the contents were about philosophy. The teacher name was Igor. He was a nice teacher, very helpful and responsable. He always answered all our questions and on his classes he always rewarded us for participate. If you made questions or comments, he gave us extra points for the next test. I was a good student in this class, I was participating and making questions almost all the time. So, I had good grades in both years. I enjoyed a lot his classes because the subjects in matter were very interesting and one of my favorite topics at school. The other classes were boring for me because teachers only pronounced the matter, but not explained it well. In addition, Igor was very clever and systematic in his subject, so me and my classmates were able to understand and learn properly the contents. Furthermore, the main reason of why I enjoyed everything of his classes, was that the contents of the subject really kept my atention and were useful in real life. We studied greek philosophers like Socrates, Platón and Aristoteles, and the tradition of the sophists and presocrats. Also, we talked about the modern philosophy, where we saw Jaspers, Heidegger and others. The essential aspect of this matter is that it made you think, and simply philosophise.

This holiday took place last summer 2013/2014, I stayed almost all summer here in Santiago but in February I went to a little town called "El Yeco", located near Algarrobo. I stayed there about two weeks with my family.

The first part of this holiday, when I stayed in Santiago I practiced a lot of sport and juggling. I enjoyed this part because I met new friends who stayed here, I also spent a lot of time with my grandma whose was sick with cancer.

In February when I went to El Yeco, everyday we got up and went biking on the hills next to the town with my cousins and my brother. There we had a beautiful view of the beach and ocean. Later, we had lunch all together with my family and enjoyed the air of beach. After that, who ever wanted to go to the beach, went and the others stayed at home. At night we all played cards and table games, and then we talked until we were tired.

This holidays is not my best, however it was very important for me because it was the last summer that I spent it with my grandmother and the entire family. In this vacation we got closer to each other.

First of all, I didn`t really choose to study psychology in the first place, because I didn't know what to study so I entered to Bachillerato. There I had many subjects, one of them was an introduction to psychology. However, I didn't really like this class, so psychology was it disappointment. But in the second semester I had more humanistic subjects and I began to like this area, so I searched a career that includes philosophy and social thinkings but also that included some scientific knowledge. I got to psychology by ruling out the other careers in FACSO, because they didn't have the scientific area that I was looking for.

Secondly, when I chose to study psychology, I didn't really know much of it. I learnt that psychologyst help people, diagnose their mental disseases, but now I realise that this carreer study many more aspects of human being. For this reason now it is a more attractive career to me.

I chose Universidad de Chile because it is a historic and prestigious institution. Also, I was influenced by my family, because they knew about that. The last reason I chose U. de Chile was that I had a high score in my PSU to enter to Bachillerato, and I didn't know what to study at that time.
